Berghofer Mill

Proudly 800 years old is the mill on the banks of the Raab. The Berghofer mill is today one of the last and at the same time one of the oldest operating Raabtal mills. Already in the 6th generation, the three Berghofer sisters control the fortunes of the traditional business, in which everything revolves around grain, flour, pumpkin and the Styrian pumpkin seed oil.

They work and live according to a nature-loving and sustainable philosophy, so only renewable energy is used in all areas of the mill, generated in its own small hydroelectric power plant.

In the oil mill, the “black gold” of Styria is extracted in a completely traditional way: In a heavy iron pan one roasts the pumpkin seeds, by massive belts the wheels are driven and what matters most is the tact of the masterly oil experts. Valuable is this oil in every sense.

During the personal oil mill tour you will get an insight into the history of the Berghofer mill, you will be initiated into the experiences of the kernel oil production and abducted into the long history of the pumpkin. During the subsequent tasting, you will learn valuable tips about the use and storage of the oil. Afterwards, you can browse the shelves in the neat mill store to your heart’s content. There you will find many high-quality grain and pumpkin products.
