On the basis of important Austrian pioneers, we show that modern physics originated in the heart of Europe and terms such as "radiation" and "light" shape today’s physical worldview.
The Museum ECHOPHYSICS as the first European Center for Physics History was founded together with the research and memorial Victor Franz Hess in 2010 by Prof. Dr. Peter Maria Schuster. Subsequently, a series of symposia and also international conferences on the history of physics took place in the festival hall of Pöllau Castle. A detailed (German and English) documentation (wall charts) as well as an English-language film screening on the (ancient) Antikythera mechanism contribute to a deepening of the knowledge about the historical development of Austrian resp. European physics. A loan exhibition of the Vienna Institute for Radium Research establishes the connection to the only Styrian Nobel Prize winner for physics, Victor Franz Hess. A range of books and brochures are available for purchase
